Miscellaneous

·        Pay Schedule/In-Service Day:  Cherie reported that Tarisa and Jessica discussed this with the RLC’s and the issue was resolved.  The additional pay will be on the next paycheck.  Cherie said that it was an issue with timesheets and miscommunication between Tarisa and Jessica, due to Jessica taking over Payroll.

·        Overtime/Comp-time:  Bonda is getting questions from people regarding if they work overtime if they are allowed to take the compensation as overtime pay.  Bonda has been telling people that as long as their supervisor approves it they should be able to.  Bonda said that some people are reporting that they are being forced to take comp time.  Renee said that is not true.  Renee said that she has communicated that it is their choice.  Dean said that overtime is supposed to be pre-approved.  Mary asked if this referred to RLC staff.  Bonda said yes.

·        Callback:  Dean said this came forward because of NWABA couldn’t get into the gymnasium and Willie Pride was called in to open the doors.  Willie then submitted a timesheet for six hours at time and a half (call-back) totalling close to $100.00.  Don said they talked about this in their pre-meeting.  Don said that Willie was called in two different instances and it was his understanding that one of the recent graduates called him in.  Dean said that he would like the minutes to reflect that in the future if callback occurs it has to be by an administrator.  Dean said that he asked Janet to modify every facility use contact to include contact information.  Don suggested we modify the contract and then send out an all-staff e-mail to let them know that call backs are not approved unless by an administrator.  Cherie said this has happened twice in four years.  Robb asked how important the issue would be as to who called him back.  Don said it is important.  Dean said that this is something that he hopes that a news paper would never get a hold of.  Don said that he and Bonda will talk to Willie to see what his side is.  Don said he hopes we can work out something that is mutually agreeable.

·        Update Capital Construction:  Dean said that we were held up on the center of campus construction.  This was due to the City having an issue between their own departments.  The issue revolves around the timing of putting in the track.  Lighting is still being improved to finish off the strip in front.  Bonda said she loves the lights as she can see very clearly.  Dean showed a picture of the new proposed PE building. WSSB has a new Capital Analyst.  Discussion was held regarding the layout of the new PE building.  Dean said that if funding is approved completion will be December, 2006.  Bonda asked if we are planning to build a new kitchen. Dean said yes.  A request was also submitted for employees and a building for Independent Living.

·        Update APH:  Dean said that these meetings are exciting and can be depressing when talking to people across the country as residential programs have a long way to go.  Some have not changed in 40-50 years.  Craig said he came away from the conference with a national perspective on how well WSSB is doing; i.e. staff, programs, recreation, residential, etc.  Bonda asked if they were on 24-hour IEP’s.  Craig said that almost all were not.  Discussion was held regarding several examples of how much further ahead WSSB was.  Dee said that she feels that WSSB brought a lot to the meeting, i.e. IRC possibilities.  Bonda asked if there was anything that employees could do to help other programs nationwide.  Dean said it was encouraging that whenever APH gets calls regarding BAC and WCCW partnership they are referred to Washington for information.

The meeting adjourned at 2:33 p.m.  The next meeting will take place on November 16, 2004.
